The Foundation Workshop!

Iniciare este post como muchos inician cuando escriben de tan hablado workshop, siempre preguntan si realmente cambia tu vida, si es tan intenso, si serás mejor fotógrafo después de tomarlo, y son solo algunas de las cuestiones que muchos preguntan.

Les platicare de la manera mas breve y sencilla mi experiencia, no los quiero tener leyendo un post que parezca la mitad de un libro, jaja espero lograrlo, intentare ser muy objetivo.

Después de haber terminado el Foundation, todos preguntaban que como fue y que les explicara como era la experiencia, a simple vista podria dar una descripcion por lo que habia pasado, pero realmente me tomo casi 1 año poder escribir esto.

Un taller de Fotoperiodismo que va mucho mas alla de ensenarte a contar una historia.

Es cierto que en Foundation te ensenan a mejora tu forma de documentar por medio de la fotografía. Pero mas alla de eso te enseñan a conocerte primero, y reconocer tus errores y también tus virtudes. Eso ayuda en gran escala a dar grandes pasos. Tal vez los cambios no sean la siguiente semana del taller o el siguiente mes. Pueden pasar meses. Pero funciona mas como una pequeña conciencia que esta contigo indicando que estas mal o que estas bien. En mi mente suena “corrige, corrige” o “vas bien, continua allí, esfuerzate, perfeccionalo!” .

Y que decir de las emociones, creo que es la parte mas fuerte, sin emocion no hay una gran fotografía, y en Foundation hacen que sientas te lo aseguro, de una manera especial logras abrir tu mente y corazon que luego eso lo puedes aprovechar para hacer un click.

Realmente cambia tu vida? Si, porque cambio mi vision, se abrio a observar mas cosas. Aprendi que no solo basta con hacer un buen click, y ya. Tienes que esforzarte y dar tu maximo por cada cuadro. Aprendi a concentrarme mas, y tener mas paciencia al buscar un objetivo. A no ser flojo. A hacer LO NECESARIO por  capturar un momento. A trabajar tambien con mi corazón, sin dejar a un lado la mente y mi cuerpo. Aprendi como todas las personas son sensibles a algo y si sabes donde esta se pueden quebrar. A respetar mas. Aprendi de cada persona que estuvo a mi lado y confio una parte de si. Entendi que este taller es solo una herramienta para seguir aprendiendo y mejorando con el tiempo, y bueno es una gran lista, este es solo un pequeño resumen.

Tuve 2 grande mentores Ben Chrisman y Brett Butterstein. Gracias por todo lo compartido. Y gracias a Fer Juaristi y Citlali Rico por todo el apoyo. Gracias a los buenos amigos que hice en todo el taller y los de mi equipo: Arody Sanchez, Joseba Sandoval, Jorge Miguel, Carlos Alonso, Daniela Garza, Luis Masyebra, los famosos Submarinos. Que bueno es recordar despues de todo este tiempo esos momentos.

Es intenso? Si muy intenso jaja. La respuesta no tiene mucha vuelta de hoja.

Seras mejor fotografo despues de tomarlo? Depende de ti.

I begin this post similar to other in writing about Foundation. Always ask if you really change your life, if it’s so intense, and If you could become a better photographer.

I will talk in the most short and simple my experience, I do not want to look like a book, haha try to be very objective.

After completing the Foundation, all wondered who it was.

I explained something very simple, but it really took me almost one year to write this.

A Photojournalism workshop. It’s not just telling a story.

True, in Foundation teach you to improve your way of documenting. But first they teach you to know. To know your mistakes and your virtues. That helps advance your photography. Maybe the changes are not the next week after the workshop or the next month. It can take months. But it works more like a small consciousness indicating that you are wrong or you’re right. In my mind it sounds “wrong, fix, fix” or “right, continuing there, do it better.”

Emotions, I think is the strongest, without emotion, there is not a great photo. In Foundation make you feel I promise, in a special way you manage to open your mind and heart.

It really changes your life? Yes, because I change my vision, I can see more things. I learned that it is not enough to make a pretty picture. You have to work and give your maximum. I learned to concentrate more and more patience to find a target. I learned not to be lazy. I learned to do what it takes to capture a moment. To work with my heart, with my mind and my body. I learned how all people are sensitive to something, and that can break if you touch it. I learned to respect more. I learned from every person who shared with me a moment. I understood that this workshop is only a tool to continue to learn and to be better every day.

I had two great mentors: Ben Chrisman and Brett Butterstein. Thanks for sharing everything. And thanks to: FerJuaristi and Citlali Rico for all the support. It is intense? Yes, very intense.
